Pepinster - an old venerable cup with pleasing news this year -
3 ladies and 4 juniors in aerobatics!  But one after the other:  This contest was the first after the World Championships in Sebnitz. But nobody was too tired to come to the flying place in Pepinster in order to find out who is the best in the classes F2A, F2B and F2C.

France was represented by many competitors, but also the Germans came numerously, especially from Cologne. But also pilots from Switzerland, Ukraine and England came all the way to Belgium. Even a sportsman from Australia took part at the competition in order to fly F2C with Remi Beringer. And of course we came too, all the way from Bitterfeld, because Brigitte was asked to judge and because we always enjoy this competition very much.

620 km is one of the longer trips this year, but we were lucky because we had a pretty good ride and arrived Pepinster at 2 a.m. allready.  Beeing anxious to wake up the competitors who were allready sleeping, we tried to be more than quiet this time and finished the night with a bottle of Beer and sparkling wine. By the way, to built up everything in Pepinster forces an extremely good sense of touch: Hans had warned us before - Cow pat (fresh and dry) everywhere. So we decided to built up the caravan and not the tents - I slept in the car. When I woke up the next morning I realized this was the right decision.

The contest was supposed to start around 9 a.m. next morning. The weather was not too cold and brought a slight wind - ideal conditions.  This changed a little during the day - a little rain came, which did not really amuse the judges.

As I allready said, we had three ladies and four juniors take part at the contest.  Richard Kornmeier, our german junior who won the third place in Sebnitz, had a new goal: the seniors. He finished this contest whith a very respectable 10th place, being the second best of the Germans. CONGRATULATION! But also the two Junior Ladies, Claire (FRA) and Anne-Kristin (GER) were having a little extra "lady-competition" which was decided through Anne-Kristin in the last flight. The field was dominated by Remi and Gilbert Beringer. Gilbert must forgive me - but I think his son flies better. But the judges decided Gilbert was the best and so he won in front of Remi and Luc.

In F2C we had ten teams. The Vice-World Champion from France Ougen/Surugue took part and won in an exciting final. As I allready said an Australian found his way to Pepinster and flew F2C. Mr. Burfin, had to rent a pilot and this way Remi Beringer showed that he can also fly straight - an interesting team!

In the evening the banquett. We needed a little rest after the long drive and the straining day - so we decided to make a barbeque instead and enjoyed the silence of the evening, looked through photo- pictures, talked... until the early morning (who came too early as my ladies told me next day).

When I woke up this morning at 7 a.m. the heaven was grey. It had been raining all night and it was not supposed to become any better during the day. But it came a little differently.... the weather was steady until the price giving (which was late at 5:30 p.m. with only a few people.)

To sum it all up - it was a very nice contest, on which we will surely participate next year again. My thanks to all the organisators, helpers and judges who made this event very pleasant.
