Thursday was intended to be a spare day. A trip to Dresden and a riverboat tour on the Elbe was scheduled. But combat had to proceed, too. So there was no way for sightseeing for us.

The day just started with a bad surprise: one of the russian cars had a broken parking-break. So it rolled by itself over the street and rammed into Alfred's Opel-Van.

Anja had the second heat of the day against Michael Wilcox (USA). After both models became airborne there was the second surprise of the day: both streamers had the red colour! Reflight at the end of round 3! Johann had to fight Vasil Yvenko. Vasil was ahead with one cut when the streamers were completely off and no fighting anymore was possible. Third surprise of the day: without any obvious reason Vasil crashed his model into ground and lost by ground-time.

Next were Andreas Wallner against Igor Milenen. Andreas won, so this was a really black day for Ukrain, Igor was out now and so did Olga Soshina in their reflight.

Otherwise we and the entusiastic spectators could watch a lot of beautiful fights, some of them over 4 minutes without a grounded model.

Anja defended herself bravely of Michael Wilcox, forced a reflight again wit 1 : 1 cuts, but lost this reflight at the ground because of a tricky problem we found out later: there was no electrical contact at the anodised cylinder head! So even the fastest change of the glow plug had no effects.

A supplement to the Wednesday report: World Record in F2C Team Race! The french team Thierry Ougen and Roland Surugue achieved a new record (confirmation to be applied) with a time of 3:10,10 ! Congratulations !!!

A second fact is worth to be noticed: One of the combat models escaped due to a line cut. It came down in the garden of an elderly Sebnitz family. In fact these two immediately took the model and brougth it back to the W/C center! A really warm Thank You! to this enthusiastic couple!

As scheduled, all the participants of F2A, F2B and F2C who did not practice they enjoyed the trip to Dresden with riverboat and sightseeing of Bastei. The weather was fine this day and so this was a nice sidestep off the W/C stress. It only would have been better if all could have taken part at.

In the evening was held a semimar about F2B rules and rule changes. Peter Germann (CH) presented to the large international audience the rule change proposals of the CIAM working group and discussed them. More about this will come up later here.

Tomorrow the competition will go on. Preliminary results to be found at the INFO page. Until then!  Matthias
